Danny + Ella | Noosa, Queensland

It had seemed a lifetime ago since my last destination wedding, but in April this year, I was lucky enough to travel to Noosa to photograph the last of the Coppel weddings. I’d had the pleasure of covering two other siblings’ amazing weddings over the last few years, and each and every time, it had been an amazing day, surrounded by fantastic people with loads of fun and laughs. This was a bitter sweet one - as it was the last.

It was a tricky one, as Covid cases in Queensland had started to rise just a few days before. Not knowing whether I was able to travel right up until the day before was a little nervy, but the stars aligned, and we were lucky enough to get the green light!

Unfortunately, it had rained for a week straight prior to the wedding date, and didn’t stop for the day itself - not for one second!

This didn’t deter anybody, and the day went ahead as planned - albeit the ceremony location being moved from the beach to indoors. Both the ceremony (officiated by the legendary Rabbi Gabi Kaltmann) and lunch reception were held at the amazing Italian restaurant Locale. I highly recommend!

Nevertheless, we all had a ball, and the day was filled with much fun (as usual), and the couple were great sports at the end of the day, in allowing us to take them to the beach (in torrential rain) to capture some ‘location’ shots!

Thanks guys, for having me (and Marcus) again!

Location: Locale, Noosa.

DEAN + PEI-XUAN / STONES OF THE YARRA VALLEY

It’s definitely a hard time to be in the events industry at the moment.

Photographers, videographers, florists, wedding venues; we’re all in the same boat when it comes to the pandemic we’re all part of now. Life won’t be the same for a while, and some of us are even wondering when our next pay cheque may come.

With events being cancelled all around the country, we in this industry as a whole are feeling it at the moment. I wish everyone all the best in the coming months, and hopefully we can pull through this difficult time.

This was the last wedding I photographed (before the restrictions came into place), at one of my favorite venues - if you hadn’t already known that!

Dean and Pei-Xuan - living in Sydney, but with families hailing from Melbourne, were married at Stones of the Yarra Valley - an iconic venue, not just for weddings - but also for their food and hospitality.

With Greek and Chinese heritages, it was a great day of sharing, fun, tears (of joy) and laughter.

Here’s the story of their day…
